Pails are an integral part of packaging solutions, and because of our strong partnerships with rigid HDPE (high density polyethylene) and metal container manufacturers, C. L. Smith is able to offer one of the most comprehensive lines of these types of containers in the marketplace!

Our openhead pails are manufactured and available in HDPE or steel and come in sizes ranging from 1 gallon – 12 gallon (all pails of 4 – 6 gallon capacity are marked with the mandatory child warning label) and can be round or square, with or without threads, and in Poly Pails with screw tops along with options for plastic or steel handles. These containers are manufactured against tight specifications enabling use in industrial, chemical, paint and coatings, household, personal care, pharmaceutical, agricultural, food storage, biohazard waste, automotive, building materials, and many other industries. Many of these containers become UN rated when paired with a UN Cover.

5 Gallon Buckets

The most widely sold size is the 5 gallon pail (often called 5 gallon buckets) and these containers are molded in one piece with the body designed for nesting purposes allowing for economic shipping and storage. The HDPE material used in the manufacture of Food Grade 5 gallon buckets meets the Food and Drug Administration requirements of 21CFR177.1520; however there may be some restrictions based upon certain colors, especially black, so please call one of our Customer Care Packaging Specialists at 855.766.0995 to ask about colors so that we can make sure you are purchasing the product that meets your needs and requirements.

Steel Pails can be unlined or lined. Liners are offered for various product uses, i.e. rust prohibitors, for products containing strong acids, strong solvents, insecticides, etc. It is very important that you know your product requirements before ordering these containers.
