Please take note that PHMSA has updated the maximum and minimum civil penalties for a known violation of the HMR in March of 2022.
The maximum civil penalty of $84,425 was increased to $89,425 per violation.
If the violation results in death, serious illness, severe injury, substantial property damage, the maximum civil penalty has increased from $196,992 to $209,249.
The new maximum penalty for training violations has increased from $508 to $540.

What is the HRM?
The HMR, otherwise known as the Hazardous Materials Regulations, are issued by the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) and govern the transportation of hazardous materials in interstate, intrastate, and foreign commerce.
