How to Disinfect Cannabis Packaging
Although there are strict guidelines and safety precautions in place, there is still a possibility for the virus to be spread from asymptomatic carriers. It is important to take additional measures of disinfecting packaging upon pickup or delivery.
The virus can live on the outer packaging for up to two days. The ideal safety measure would be to isolate the cannabis product for 48 hours. If this is not an option, the outer packaging will need to be disinfected with the following steps:
- Place the product in an isolated location on a hard surface taking caution not to touch anything with it or your hands
- Using an EPA approved cleaner, wipe down the entire outer packaging including the surface area the package was placed on
- Do not use soap and water for this, it could damage the product
- Use a 60% alcohol-based hand sanitizer or wash hands thoroughly
